Greek Railway Workers Continue their Strike: Students Take to the Streets Again

The Greek railway unions again renewed their strike action to include Friday. They have been on strike since March 1 and are unlikely to return to work until their demands are met. Representatives of the national federation of workers at railroad and fixed-track transport means (POS-MST) said in a statement that the federation demanded safe, high-quality, and public train service. They also added that it will table its proposals to restart train services at its meeting on Thursday with the Minister of State responsible for transportation and infrastructure, Giorgos Gerapetritis.

Students took to the streets again on Thursday morning in the center of Athens under the slogan, “This crime will not be covered up for all the dead, we will be a voice.” The students, reportedly, marched to the Parliament. Students and youth played a leading role all over Greece in Wednesday’s demonstrations that bought tens of thousands into the streets.
