ICC's Issues Arrest Warrant of Putin for Saving Orphans: Beyond ‘Chutzpah’

In the propaganda campaign against Putin, the “International Criminal Court” has truly outdone itself. Russian President Vladimir Putin is accused of allowing Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights Maria Lvova-Belova to rescue orphans from the Donbass war zone and then find Russian parents willing to adopt them. Translated into the “International Criminal Court” language, it reads: The “unlawful deportation of population (children) and that of unlawful transfer of population (children) from occupied areas of Ukraine.” They tend to ignore that millions of adult residents of the Donbass went to Russia for protection in 2022, and, of course, they could vouch for their children. However, the orphans didn’t have parents who could give such consent, and thus provide “lawful deportation.”

First, one should note that the ICC is not connected with the UN. Further, it has no authority in Russia, the United States, China, India and dozens of other countries, that are not signatories to the ICC. Russia, though originally a signatory to the ICC’s 1998 founding document, officially withdrew from the ICC years ago, citing its departure from its stated objectives.

Second, the U.S. enacted a law in 2002 that prohibits any cooperation with the ICC and authorizes “all means necessary and appropriate,” including military force, to free Americans or citizens of U.S. allies from the ICC’s actions. In this farcical development, one might ask: Are the clever fellows of the U.K. and U.S. intelligence community scheming to declare Putin an ally, so as to invade the Kremlin to “rescue” Putin from the “evil” ICC, and detain Putin in “protective custody”? Laughable, but who thought it would get this far? It gets worse.

Maria Lvova-Belova, Presidential Commissioner of Children’s Rights, is a long-time defender of children. She and her husband have children of their own, but, prior to last year’s military operation by Russia, they had already adopted many children, being parents of 22. Lvova-Belova had first taught guitar in music schools for children. Later, she founded Novyie Berega Art Estate, a community for young people with different types of disabilities. Last year she and her husband adopted their first child from the Donbass, making a total of 23 children in their family. This is Putin’s alleged co-conspirator.
