French police authorities acknowledged that an estimated 1.3 million people in France took to the streets in launching a massive general strike for two days against President Emmanuel Macron’s pension “reform.” This matched or was close to the largest turnout for any French general strike. More than a million had taken part in demonstrations on Jan. 19. Now the CGT and other unions organizing the strikes have called for another huge turnout this Saturday, March 11, which will be the seventh day of action in this mass strike. Macron’s legislation may be voted on in Parliament before the end of this month.
