Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, in India for the March 1-2 G20 Foreign Ministers meeting, was asked if Turkiye will continue to resist the pressure to join Western sanctions against Moscow. In response, Cavusoglu explained why Turkiye doesn’t feel the need to bend to foreign pressure: “We don’t need to resist anyone, we make our own decisions as a sovereign state. We don’t join any unilateral sanctions. We support only those introduced with the backing of the UN. It’s not just about Russia, but we also don’t support sanctions against Iran or any other country.”
