Kujat Calls for Genuine European Security Architecture, Supports Macron

In an interview with the Swiss journal Zeitgeschehen published today, German Gen. (ret.) Harald Kujat says that Macron’s recent remarks on European and US views differing on the Taiwan issue, point to the importance of creating a genuine security policy for Europe in cases of such differences. For instance, the US cancellation of the INF Treaty in 2019 created a situation of no control over Russia’s armaments, thus undermining the stability of the European stability system. Macron was the only European leader to criticize the US at that time, Kujat notes, adding that the French President’s remarks are primarily addressed to Germany, which has so far been reluctant to discuss the issue of more independence from the United States.
