Lula Calls Out U.S. Weapons Supply as Encouraging War in Ukraine

In his short, April 15 morning press conference before leaving China for the U.A.E., Brazilian President Lula da Silva was asked if any progress had been made on Ukraine during his trip. He answered at some length, reiterating his proposal that nations not involved in the Ukraine-Russia war “form a group of countries … willing to find a way to make peace.”

Lula explained that the task of such a group would not only be to patiently talk to the Presidents of Russia and Ukraine, but “above all,” it would have “to convince the countries that are supplying weapons, encouraging the war, to stop.” The latter point he mentioned twice, the second time naming the United States specifically:
