Poland Shuts Down Russian School at the Embassy in Warsaw

Andrey Ordash, Minister-Counselor at the Russian Embassy in Poland, told TASS that the Polish authorities had demanded that the staff of the Russian school at the Russian Federation Embassy in Warsaw vacate the building by 7 p.m. on April 29. The Russian Foreign Ministry said this was a violation of the 1961 Vienna Convention, and that there would be a “firm response” from Moscow, TASS reported. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova responded: “Official Warsaw has been breaking the law for many years: international law, bilateral agreements and national legislation. It behaves in a defiant and unlawful manner, which can be characterized with one word—provocation,” the diplomat said, commenting on the seizure of the Russian Embassy school in Warsaw. “Such a brazen step by Warsaw that goes beyond civilized inter-state relations won’t be left without our firm response and consequences for the Polish authorities and Poland’s interests in Russia. The initiators of such contradictory and inflammatory ideas must be aware of that,” the ministry said. (https://mid.ru/ru/foreign_policy/news/1866256/)

Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev wrote on his Twitter account that Russia should break diplomatic relations with Poland, for starters. “I see no point in maintaining diplomatic relations with Poland. This state must not exist for us while there is no one but Russophobes in power and Ukraine is full of Polish mercenaries, who should be ruthlessly exterminated like stinky rats.”
