Russia's Medvedev: Now, Face to Face With Thermonuclear War

Russia former President, and current deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev delivered a chilling message - as clear a message of being at the precipice of nuclear war as one would wish never had to be delivered. It started apparently as a question on climate change, but it prompted Medvedev to articulate what was truly on his mind.

“Stop suffering because the temperature rose by one degree in such and such a year or over such and such a period. Humanity has been watching this for a very short time,” according to RIA Novosti’s account of his April 25 interchange. The rest is captured on a 2-minute video, with the captioned English translation given:

“Do you really care about the climate to such an extent? In my opinion, this is nothing compared to the prospect of being at the epicenter of an explosion with a temperature of 5,000 Kelvin (scale), a shock wave of 350 meters per second and a pressure of 3,000 kilograms per square meter, with penetrating radiation, that is, ionizing radiation and an electromagnetic pulse.

“Is there that kind of prospect today? Alas, there is. And it is growing every day due to obvious reasons. This is why the world is sick and quite probably is on the verge of a new world war. Is it inevitable? No, it is not. A world war is avoidable, but I will not be making any forecasts now.
