Scott Ritter posted an article yesterday on Consortium News in which he argues that arms control under a second Biden (or other DNC-picked Democrat) or under a second Trump administration has no future and that the U.S., therefore, needs an alternative. Regardless of which of these two gets elected, the danger of a nuclear war becomes much greater, Ritter argues, though the predicates are different for each. Unlike Biden, Trump actually articulated a much different policy towards both Russia and North Korea, but was sabotaged by a combination of his own ego and from within his administration. What is needed, Ritter says, is a new standard of arms control, one that breaks through the narrative of the nuclear enterprise which has a corrupting influence on both political parties.
