Trump Argues, This Is the Most Dangerous Period Ever in History

In an interview April 11 with Fox News’ Tucker Carlson, former President Donald Trump touched on some topics all too rarely mentioned in the public discourse of America today. After talking about the attack on the Nord Stream pipelines, which he strongly indicated was done by the U.S., Trump said “Look, we could end up in World War III over this whole thing…. I believe it is the most dangerous period of time in history—number one, because we have people on top that are incompetent. That’s number one.”

Continuing, the former President said, “The most dangerous period of time—because of weaponry, because of nuclear, because of weaponry—the most dangerous period of time in the history of our country and in the history of the world, right now, and we have an incompetent person at the top.”

Further in the interview, Trump came back to the danger of nuclear war: “When I listen to people talk about global warming, that the ocean will rise in the next 300 years by 1/8 of an inch, and they talk about this is our problem—our big problem is nuclear warming!… All it takes is one madman and you’re going to have a problem the likes of which the world has never seen, and you don’t have to wait 200-300 years for it to happen.”

Carlson asked him why the danger is not talked about in the U.S., and Trump replied by saying: “I don’t think they get it. Putin got it. I would talk to him about it all the time.” He said that nuclear weapons have “massive power, massive,” and that “I consider it to be the single greatest threat the world has.”

Trump also made quick mention that “Ukraine is being obliterated,” but then quickly moved on, rather than dwelling on that point. “Somebody has to understand what has to happen, and de-escalate.”

Trump, of course, demonstrated no understanding of how to resolve this danger globally, as he repeated again that none of this would have happened if he were in the White House, because Putin and Xi had “respect” for him. Nonetheless, his public warning of this very serious danger, as a former President of the United States, is important.
