U.S. Treasury officials specializing in sanctions, Liz Rosenberg and Brian Nelson, will be paying a visit to European allies this month and giving them a message about what the U.S. expects of them. The report comes from Fortune Magazine who spoke to anonymous Treasury officials Friday, April 7 .
The visit will focus on Switzerland, Italy, and Germany, but Rosenberg will also make a stop in Kazakhstan afterwards. The supposition is that these countries have allowed certain loopholes for business and trade despite the Russia sanctions, and that these must be closed immediately. According to Fortune, officials of these countries will be given the following choices: “1. Continue to provide Moscow with material support or 2. Keep doing business with countries that represent 50 percent of the global economy.”
