Donetsk People’s Republic officials reported an artillery attack on the Holy Transfiguration Cathedral in the center of Donetsk early Sunday morning, April 16. One parishioner was reported killed, and six others wounded as part of a Ukrainian attack of 20 rockets fired at the city. This Sunday marks Easter in the Orthodox confession worldwide.
Additional artillery hit other targets. “A fire broke out as a result of a Ukrainian projectile hitting a kindergarten. Destruction is recorded in the Krytiy Market, nearby shops, and a pharmacy,” the D.P.R. statement said. “The enemy deliberately attacked the area of the central cathedral on Easter night.”
