In a speech to the nation May 10, on the occasion of his having completed half of his presidential term, Bolivian President Luis Arce reported that his government is studying the possibility of using yuan for trade with China, rather than the dollar, RT en Español reported May 11.
There are many countries, he said, “among them Argentina, Brazil, Arab nations and others, that have agreed with China, the primary supplier of manufactures in the world, on trading in yuan instead of U.S. dollars.” These decisions, Arce said, are “an objective recognition of geopolitical changes and the new pole that is emerging in the world.”
