Brazil President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva at a press conference, today, said that the Ukraine crisis should be taken up by the UN, preferably in the General Assembly. As reported by TASS, he said, “It is necessary to discuss the war in Ukraine in the UN. During all five months of my presidency, no one invited me to attend a UN meeting to discuss this war. We could reschedule the General Assembly meeting, which usually takes place in September, to June or July to discuss the war.” (https://agenciabrasil.ebc.com.br/politica/noticia/2023-05/apos-g7-lula-mantem-posicao-sobre-guerra-na-ucrania)
President Da Silva, who attended the May 19-21 Group of Seven heads of state summit in Japan, representing one of the eight invited guest nations, said that the leaders of both Ukraine and Russia should be invited to attend the UNGA, giving presentations, and then deliberations would begin. He said that discussing the crisis within the frameworks of the G7 or the Group of 20 is not suitable, and that the crisis should be addressed at the UN in a special way.
