A technology fair of Chinese State Owned Enterprises (SOE’s) opened this week and is showcasing many of the latest breakthrough technologies which China has developed. As an article in Global Times puts it: “These products are the crystallization of China’s technological progress, as the country mounts efforts to research self-developed tech and break the monopolies of overseas companies.”
One item that is prominently shown is the Jinghua, the largest domestically made tunnel boring machine, which was developed by China Railway Construction Corp. The machine has a maximum excavation diameter of 16.07 meters, and is supposedly on-par technically with other leading manufacturer’s borers.
Also on display is the Guohe One, China’s third-generation nuclear power technology that has been fully developed within China; 100% of its production sourcing is domestic. The project has been underway for 16 years, and is capable of producing 1,400 MW.
