China’s Special Envoy for Eurasian Affairs Li Hui will be visiting Ukraine as part of China’s diplomatic efforts towards a peace deal. He is the former ambassador to Russia for 10 years, and speaks fluent Russian. Li is planning to “conduct in-depth communications with different parties for a political settlement of the Ukraine crisis,” according to Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin. Li will also visit Russia, as well as France, Germany, and Poland. Li is the most senior Chinese official to visit Ukraine since Russia’s special military operation began.
