Former Goldman Sachs banker Jim O’Neill, who originally coined the acronym BRIC—although obviously not the policy content—gave an interview to the TV show Going Underground and commented on the progress towards de-dollarization. O’Neill, more recently reinvented as Baron O’Neill of Gatley and thereby a member of the House of Lords, commented: “The idea that the dollar will remain king forever, I think, is probably unlikely…. This is not the first time that people have talked about the end of the dollar, it happens every other year if not with the same intensity.”
