The 14th International Economic Forum “Russia-Islamic World KazanForum” was held in Kazan, Russia, over May 18-20, and brought together delegations from Russia and 57 countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). There were reportedly hundreds of meetings, and over 100 trade agreements were signed.
The Forum included over 16,000 participants and held 150 sessions, on topics such as, “Strengthening Partnerships: Russia-Malaysia Relations in Context of Cooperation and Trust” and “Russia’s Ties with Islamic World Are of Special Importance’.” Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin was quoted by RT as saying “The forum has become a place where political and economic interests have gathered, because the countries of the Muslim world support us…. None of the countries of the Muslim world supports sanctions against us.”
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov addressed the 7th Young Diplomats Forum of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation countries on May 18, via video.
