Mass Shootings in U.S. Every 16 Hours: a Culture of Rage and Despair

The United States, from the beginning of 2023 to now, has had a mass shooting every 16 hours.

That statistic is based upon counting as “mass” shootings those in which four or more people are wounded or killed. Last week, there was a mass shooting every 8 hours, with a total of 112 killed or wounded. This week began with a mass killing without a shooting, when a man in Brownsville, Texas, apparently aimed his vehicle at a crowd waiting at a bus stop, killing at least eight and wounding more. Perhaps the country’s politicians should stop trying to tell the rest of the world how to run their countries.
