Murderous ‘Assad Anti-Normalization Act’ Introduced in Congress

A group of pro-war killers, lodged in the U.S. House of Representatives, yesterday introduced the insane “Assad Anti-Normalization Act,” intended to punish Syria and any other nation that seeks normal relations with President Bashar al-Assad and his government. The bill threatens to intensify application of the murderous Caesar sanctions in Syria, which have plunged that country’s population into unspeakable poverty and suffering, but will find ways to apply them as well to other Arab nations that want to increase diplomatic activity with Damascus.

The bill orders the State Department to “monitor” Türkiye, the U.A.E., Egypt, Jordan, Iraq and Saudi Arabia, among other countries, and report back to Congress on their diplomatic activities with Damascus.

The sponsors of this obscenity include Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC), chairman of the U.S. Helsinki Commission, a key fixture in the Anglo-American “break-up Russia” operation, Michael McCaul (R-TX), chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN), also a Ranking Member of the U.S. Helsinki Commission, and three or four others of this ilk who have no qualms about starting World War III.

A vitriolic press release issued by Wilson’s office on May 11 repeats ad nauseam that Assad is a mass murderer, war criminal, drug trafficker and poses a threat to regional security. McCaul is quoted, saying that “Assad and his Russian and Iranian backers continue to commit horrific acts against the Syrian people,” and must be held accountable, “not welcomed back unconditionally by the international community.” The Arab League’s recent invitation to Assad to rejoin that organization is violently attacked.
