The Chinese Foreign Ministry issued a statement on June 25 with regard to the situation in Russia, underlining the need for maintaining stability in the country. “This is Russia’s internal affair. As Russia’s friendly neighbor and comprehensive strategic partner of coordination for the new era, China supports Russia in maintaining national stability and achieving development and prosperity.”
It should also be noted that Vice Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko is presently in Beijing for a working visit. The visit is primarily connected to the further integration of the two countries’ cooperation as agreed to by President Putin and President Xi. Rudenko met with both Foreign Minister Qin Gang and Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu. The two sides underlined their high regard for the current state of Russo-Chinese relations, and expressed a desire for continuing to expand their cooperative relationship.
The Chinese side also expressed support for the efforts of the Russian leadership in the stabilization of its country in relation to developments over the past few days and expressed an interest in the strengthening of the unity and the future prosperity of Russia.
Rudenko also held discussions with Liu Xiaoming, the Chinese envoy on the Korean Peninsula issue. The two sides also engaged in preparations for the upcoming annual conference “Russia and China: Cooperation in the New Era.”
