On the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum this week, Sergei Glaziev, the Minister for Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission, spoke. He made a number of points, described by media as foreseeing that the present global turbulence will start to calm down after 2025, and the process underway at present for national sovereignty to be asserted, will further collaboration on a new paradigm of world development.
As reported by Belarus media, he said “The new world economic order is greatly changing the paradigm of international relations. Firstly, the importance of national sovereignty is being restored, and this means that international law will strengthen its importance after a turbulent period. We expect that a new world currency will be introduced on the basis of an international agreement, and the BRICS group of nations is close to this.”
He singled out for praise the recently formed Consortium of Development Institutions. This was established earlier this month in the EAEU. Members include the Center for Strategic Development of the Republic of Armenia; the National Institute for Strategic Studies, under the President of Kyrgyzstan; and from Russia, the Agency for Strategic Initiatives. Tajikistan and Uzbekistan are favorable to cooperation with the Consortium.
