Iran reopened its embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, yesterday just in time for the arrival U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, on a visit to Saudi Arabia June 6-8. The embassy had been closed since 2016, but a rapprochement between Saudi Arabia and Iran, mediated by China, made the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries possible. Footage aired by al-Hadath TV, a sister channel of Al Arabiya, showed the Iranian flag being raised outside the embassy building in Riyadh, accompanied by the playing of the Iranian national anthem.
