U.S. and Australia Plan Huge Military Exercise in July

The Australian government website has announced upcoming military exercises which are planned to take place from July 22 to August 4. These exercises are aimed at increasing combat readiness and interoperability between Australian and U.S. forces, as well as other partner nations. This will be the 10th year of the exercise, and is the largest bilateral training activity between the Australian Defense Force and the United States military.

The exercise, called Talisman Sabre 2023 (TS23) is anticipated to be the largest iteration of it, and is expected to involve more than 30,000 military personnel from 13 nations, with several other nations involved only as observers. It will take place in many regions of Australia—primarily focused in the state of Queensland, but sites in all of Australia’s states will be included.
