Biggest Ever Foreign Investment Deal in Kyrgyzstan: Chinese Firms To Build Four Power Dams on Naryn River

A deal was signed July 27 between Kyrgyzstan government officials and those of a Chinese consortium of companies to build four hydropower dams on the Naryn River in the central part of the country. The projects, which are to be completed by 2030, are to have an installed capacity of 1,160 MW, according to coverage July 28 by Global Construction Review.

These dams are part of the Kazarman hydropower cascade, a project under consideration since 2011, according to Asia-Plus news agency. The site of the new dams is in the mountainous Jalal-Abad region.
