A survey of bank lending officers of the Eurozone’s 20 countries, conducted by the European Central Bank (ECB) and released on July 24, showed that business loan demand across Europe is as low as in the spring of 2009, at the depth of the physical-economic collapse which followed the 2008 global financial crash. At no other point in the 21st century has business loan demand in Europe been this low.
