Kiev's Danilov Asserts, If You Can't Conquer Land, Damaging Russia Is Just as Good

The head of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council Oleskiy Danilov yesterday tweeted a rather naked repackaging of Ukraine’s military effort. Up to now, while the West has pushed sacrificing Ukrainians to extract the maximum degradation of Russia’s capabilities, Kiev has recited, chapter and verse, how their military and diplomatic mission is nothing less than retaking the former oblasts of Lugansk, Donbass, Zaporozhye and Kherson, along with Crimea.

Danilov’s new formulation, announced in a tweet, is that causing pain to the Russians is now the equivalent of conquering land. Danilov tweeted: “At this stage of active hostilities, Ukraine’s Defense Forces are fulfilling the number one task—the maximum destruction of manpower, equipment, fuel depots, military vehicles, command posts, artillery and air defense forces of the russian army. The last few days have been particularly fruitful. Now the war of destruction is equal to the war of kilometers. More destroyed means more liberated. The more effective the former, the more the latter. We are acting calmly, wisely, step by step.” (https://twitter.com/OleksiyDanilov/status/1676118862998257664 )
