Brazil’s Monitor Mercantil: "22 Countries Line Up to Join the BRICS"

The influential Brazilian online and print daily Monitor Mercantil on August 5 published an article by its Editor-in-Chief Marcos de Oliveira, in which he details the prospects for the expansion of the BRICS into the BRICS-Plus at the Aug. 22-24 South Africa summit. “There are 22 Asian, African and Latin American countries that have formally requested to join the BRICS… The expansion of the BRICS is seen as a step on the path to de-dollarization.”

De Oliveira, who delivered a speech titled “Brazil Is Back” at the April 15-16, 2023 Schiller Institute conference https://larouchepub.com/other/2023/5016-brazil_is_back.html explained: “The expansion of the block is headed up by China and Russia. South Africa also supports expansion. Brazil and India had restrictions, but they are now starting to support the idea.”
