In an interview with a Jordanian publication called The Kingdom, (in Arabic, read via machine translation), Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley described the Ukrainian counterattack, which has been going on for nearly 8 weeks, as “very slow,” noting that this military method is “bloody” and left victims in large numbers and very difficult. But he claimed that the Ukrainians liberated a large part of their lands that were controlled by Russia since the beginning of the attack on Feb. 24, 2022.
Regarding the success and failure in this regard, Milley said that it is still too early to determine the success or failure of the attack... “It is clear that there has been partial success so far.” Milley spoke of “steady progress” being made by the Ukrainians, explaining that the speed of the attack was slower than he had thought.
Regarding the weapons pipeline, Milley said that Ukraine will get its F-16s in the “not too distant future” but the 300-km range ATACMS missiles are still on the table, saying, “U.S. President Joe Biden did not say no or yes at this time.”
