U.S. Commerce Secretary Off to China; U.S. Lifts Some Sanctions

With U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo’s planned visit to China starting tomorrow (Aug. 27-30), the Commerce Department on Aug. 22 lifted 27 Chinese entities from the so-called “Unverified List,” which restricts access to exports from the U.S. Six other entities from other countries were included.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said on Aug. 22 that China “welcomes the U.S. move to lift relevant Chinese entities from the list, which indicates that both sides can address specific concerns through communications on the basis of mutual respect.”
