Ukraine launched an attack against the city of Donetsk with flames engulfing the wooden roof of a university building. A few hours later there was another attack on Donetsk. Both attacks involved cluster bombs against civilian targets, according to Russian authorities.

Russia, for its part, attacked various targets in Ukraine on the night of August 5 including an airfield in Starokostiantyniv and targets in Khmelnytsky. The airfield is where the Su-24 bombers are based that deliver British-made long range Storm Shadow missiles. In the attack they reportedly utilized Kinzal hypersonic missiles and cruise missiles as well as Iranian-made drones.
