US-Ukraine Talks on Security Guarantees Beginning This Week

Though Ukraine was not granted a pathway to full NATO membership during the NATO summit in Vilnius last month, processes were set in motion to give them other security guarantees.

Andriy Yermak, head of the Ukrainian President’s office, wrote on Telegram Sunday: “We are starting talks with the United States [this] week. Security guarantees for Ukraine will be concrete, long-term obligations ensuring Ukraine’s capacity to defeat and restrain Russian aggression in the future. These will be clearly drafted formats and mechanisms of support.”
