U.S. Secretary of Defense Austin had a three-way phone call yesterday with the Japanese and South Korean Defense Ministers . “The secretary affirmed the ironclad U.S. extended deterrence commitment to Japan and the Republic of Korea,” Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh told reporters at the Defense Department yesterday. “The leaders also discussed and strongly condemned North Korea’s Aug. 24th attempted space launch using ballistic missile technology as a violation of multiple UN security resolutions.”
