A delegation led by the Foreign Minister of Burkina Faso, Olivia Rouamba, was in Tehran on September 4, where they were received by Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
“We have considered various fields for cooperation. This important approach in Burkina Faso, that the people are able to determine their own fate, matters a lot to us,” the Iranian Foreign Minister said during the meeting.
Extending an invitation to visit Burkina Faso, Rouamba said, “In order to strengthen the cooperation between the two countries, it was decided that Amir-Abdollahian will visit Burkina Faso soon.” She added that it was also decided that an ambassador of Burkina Faso in Iran will soon be stationed in Tehran so that the activities in the meantime will gain more momentum.
During his meeting with Rouamba, Iran’s Oil Minister Javad Owji said Iran was ready to build an oil refinery and export technical and engineering services to the African country. In fact, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) had been signed between Iran and the previous Burkina Faso government.
Rouamba, for her part, said cooperation such as between oil experts of the two countries could lead to building a refinery, and expressed hope that Burkina Faso will meet domestic needs by producing oil products.
