Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry today called upon the regime’s “international partners” to condemn Russia for holding elections of local officials for the administration of the Russian regions of Crimea, Lugansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporozhye. Kiev’s statement today asserts: “These actions of the Russian Federation brutally violate the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.…”

Kiev points out that holding such elections actually results in the Kremlin continuing “to delegitimize the Russian legislation system.”

Meanwhile, in Ukraine, elections have not been “delegitimized"; rather, they’ve simply been canceled, by President Zelenskyy’s order of martial law. (It is also the case that opposition media have been shut down and opposition political parties have been banned.) Does Kiev propose that during the hostilities, Moscow impose martial law upon the areas that they control and cancel elections, Ukraine-style?
