Kucinich Demands Biden Provide Secret Service Protection to RFK, Jr.

Dennis Kucinich, the former U.S. Congressman and presidential candidate who is the manager of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s presidential campaign, has written to President Joe Biden urging him to grant Secret Service protection to Kennedy. The letter followed the Sept. 15 incident in Los Angeles in which two armed individuals sought entrance to the Hispanic Heritage venue where Kennedy was about to speak. Given the threat level to Kennedy, and the history of the assassinations of the candidate’s uncle, President John F. Kennedy, and his father Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, Kucinich told Biden he found it “astonishing” that the President would refuse the candidate Secret Service protection.

“A specter of violence haunts our political process,” Kucinich warned. “Indeed, political assassinations pose a grave threat to democracy. It is not hard to imagine the civil chaos and political disintegration that could ensue with the return of the kind of assassinations of public officials and presidential candidates that marred the 1960s.”
