A Russian military delegation led by Deputy Defense Minister Yunus-Bek Yevkurov was in Burkina Faso, where he met with the interim President, Ibrahim Traore, and other officials. From there the delegation traveled to Mali where they met Mali’s Interim President Colonel Assimi Goita to discuss bilateral defense and security cooperation, as well as the situation in the Sahel, web news website said. From Mali the delegation traveled on September 1 to the Central African Republic (CAR), where Russia has been supporting the government in the security field since 2018. CAR is also the African country where the Russian PMC Wagner has been active. There were no details on whom the delegation met.
