The USS Florida, an Ohio-class submarine converted to carry 154 Tomahawk cruise missiles and Navy SEALs, paid a visit to Tromso in northern Norway on Sept. 14. “We are grateful to Norway for allowing USS Florida to conduct a port visit to Tromso. Stops like these ensure that the submarine and her crew are able to continue their mission of promoting security and stability in the region,” said Rear Adm. Stephen Mack, director of Maritime Operations, U.S. Naval Forces Europe/Africa, reported the Barents Observer. U.S. Sixth Fleet said in a statement on Sept.14 that the submarine prior to Tromso made a scheduled visit to Naples, Italy in August.
