Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is arriving in Moscow for four days of meetings with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and other officials, in what were referred to by China’s Foreign Ministry as “strategic security consultations"; TASS cited the Kremlin that the Ukraine war, and the expansion of NATO into Asia, would be central topics of the meetings. These are likely in preparation for a meeting between President’s Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping, which Putin, in Vladivostok, had said he expected. Putin said at that time that Russia-China relations “have reached an absolutely unprecedented, historical level.”
