President Joe Biden was preparing to board his plane for his trip to Israel and Jordan, when Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi announced that the planned four-party summit in Jordan with President Biden “has been postponed until further notice.” Biden’s scheduled summit with Jordan’s King Abdullah, Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Sisi, and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas was canceled after Israel bombed the Gaza City hospital.
Biden will proceed with his meetings in Israel.
According to Egypt Today’s sources, Egypt and Palestine pressured Jordan to cancel the summit after the bombing.
Egyptian President Sisi condemned the bombing of Al Ahly Baptist Hospital in Gaza Strip as a “deliberate bombing, which is considered a clear violation of international law and the provisions of international legitimacy and humanity.” Such actions must immediately cease, President Sisi wrote. Egypt’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement calling on all countries of the world, to intervene to stop these violations and demanding that the Israeli forces stop targeting the Rafah crossing to enable the entry of humanitarian aid to Gaza Strip as quickly as possible, Egypt Today reported.
