Europe in a Panic, Demands That Biden ‘Retake’ Its Military Supply Role To Not Let Putin ‘Win’

European leaders met under the umbrella of the European Political Community in Granada, Spain yesterday, in a big show of support for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who attended in person. But all they demonstrated was their impotence in the wake of the political gridlock in Washington. “Certainly, Europe cannot replace the U.S.,” EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said in reply to a reporter’s question yesterday, reported TASS. “Europe is increasing the support, on the table we have [a] proposal for €50 billion for the civilian and economic side (for 2024-2027), and €20 billion for the military side (for the same period),” he said. “And we did that before, waiting for the U.S. to make decisions. Certainly we can do more,” but the U.S. is irreplaceable in terms of aid for Ukraine.

Borrell warned that without U.S. aid, Putin might “win” the war. “The hope of the Ukrainians and, I think, of everybody that does not want Putin winning this war, is to look for the ways for the United States to retake this issue and continue supporting Ukraine,” Borrell said.
