Yesterday’s national elections in Switzerland saw the conservative Swiss People’s Party (SVP) as the biggest winner, and the Greens as the biggest losers, which mirrors the situation in Germany. The SVP improved by 3% to 28.6%, the social democratic SP improved by 1.2% to 18%, followed by the Christian Democracy (CVP) which received 14.6%, and the liberal FDP at 14.4%. The Greens received 9.4%, down 3.8% over the last elections, with the liberal Greens GL also losing, but only by 0.6%, to 7.2%.
