Italian Frigate Joins U.S. Battle Group in the Eastern Mediterranean

The Italian Navy Carlo Bergamini-class frigate ITS Virginio Fasan will integrate with the Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group during the deployment, according to Naval News. The USS Eisenhower departed Port of Norfolk Oct. 13, bound for the Eastern Mediterranean.

The presence of the Italian frigate won’t add anything significant to the capabilities of the two U.S. aircraft carrier strike groups, but it will immediately make Italy a target of possible Hamas retaliations. This is utmost stupidity and follows statements of “full support” to Israel issued by Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.
