French President Emmanuel Macron, meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Israel today, called on France, some of its NATO allies, and other nations to join Israel in its slaughter of the Palestinians in Gaza. He proposed that the “international coalition against the Islamic State, which we used for our operations in Iraq and Syria, also fight Hamas.” He also joined Bibi’s threat to Hezbollah, Iran and Yemen that they not intervene or face a “regional conflagration.”
The international coalition Macron is referring to is the so-called Operation Inherent Resolve, the name the U.S. gave to the wars in Iraq and Syria, supposedly against ISIS. The countries which signed on to the war plan include the U.K., France, Türkiye, Canada, the Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Australia and Jordan.
Whether the other European countries and Canada and Australia would be agreeable to Macron’s proposal is unclear; but there is zero chance that Saudi Arabia, the U.A.E. and Jordan would go along. In fact, Jordan’s King Abdullah II met with Macron in Amman today. Jordan Times quoting the monarchy reported: “King Abdullah and the French President discussed international efforts to push for an end to the cycle of violence and reach a political horizon that ends the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, guarantees security and achieves just and comprehensive peace on the basis of the two-state solution, according to a Royal Court statement.
