Der Spiegel weekly and ZDF broadcast report that Die Linke dissident Sahra Wagenknecht wants, after long deliberation, to found her own party. According to information from ARD’s Berlin studio, she wants to present the founding of an association at the Federal press conference on Oct. 23. The purpose of the association is probably the founding of her own party. The party leadership of Wagenknecht’s previous party, Die Linke (the Left), has been expecting such a step since the beginning of the year.
According to Der Spiegel, she first wants to make public the founding of the already-registered association “For Reason and Justice,” (Für Vernunft und Gerechtigkeit, BSW). BSW is said to stand for Bündnis Sahra Wagenknecht ("Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance “). At the press conference, the 54-year-old politician will also present a first draft program. Last week, she said in an interview with the ARD news program tagesschau.de that a party could be founded in 2024 at the earliest.
