The Russian President, in the discussion period of the opening plenary of the Sixth Russian Energy Week conference in Moscow, warned that the expansion of the conflict in the Middle East “may lead to serious consequences, including in the energy sector,” globally. He spoke of the great bitterness in both Israel and Palestine, and the need for “compromise solutions,” not, as the United States is doing, steps to inflame the crisis such as sending in aircraft carrier groups.
“I don’t understand why the U.S. is dragging aircraft carrier groups into the Mediterranean Sea. I don’t really understand the point. Are they going to bomb Lebanon or what? Or have they decided to try to scare someone? There are people there who are no longer afraid of anything. This is not the way to solve the problem. Compromise solutions need to be looked for. Of course, such actions are inflaming the situation.”
