Central Asia Rail Corridors Progress with China-Afghanistan Freight Line

The most recent container train from China to Afghanistan arrived on Oct. 9. The arrival ceremony took place at Ḥairatān Railway Station in Afghanistan, with the train bearing 22 containers of auto spare parts through the multimodal transport corridor “China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan-Afghanistan.” Thanks to the joint efforts to develop the corridor, 22 containers were transported from China to Afghanistan over September-December 2022, and 73 containers in January-September 2023, according to the European railway magazine, LOK Report.

Moreover the volume has increased significantly since August this year. At the same time, the delivery time of containers from China to Afghanistan has been reduced to 20-25 days (passing through China in 13-18 days, Kyrgyzstan 4-5 days, and Uzbekistan 3-4 days).
