Russian President Vladimir Putin gave the keynote address at today’s opening plenary of the Oct. 11-13 Sixth Russian Energy Week Forum in Moscow, followed by that of Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al Sudani—the first Arab leader to participate in the Forum. Al-Sudani had already held bilateral talks with Putin on his visit to the Russian capital. The panel’s moderator was a pan-Arab TV network anchor.

The key topic of Russian Energy Week in 2023 is “The New Reality of Global Energy: Building the Future.” The Forum includes more than 30 events divided into thematic blocks: the International Agenda; Sustainable Development and the Climate; Scientific and Technological Development, and the Digital Transformation; and the Development of the Fuel and Energy Sector. Over 4,000 people from more than 60 countries are attending, including representatives of governments, CEOs of major energy companies and organizations, scientists and experts.
