Sachs Asserts, If U.S. Joins Assault on Gaza, It Is World War III

Jeffrey Sachs, who is in Rome to attend the Pope’s Prayer Meeting in St. Peter’s Square which will take place Friday morning, Oct. 27, spoke with political commentator Judge Andrew Napolitano today on the war danger in Gaza. He called the Israeli approach “untenable” and a “huge mistake for Israel,” comparing it to George W. Bush ignoring the warnings from the UN and others that an attack on Saddam Hussein in Iraq would be a disaster for the U.S. itself, just as the Netanyahu government is rejecting the warnings from the UN and others.

Asked what would happen if the U.S. were to join the planned Israeli ground war on Gaza, Sachs replied: “That would be World War III,” noting the overwhelming opposition around the world to such a move.

“Biden needs to know,” he said, that he must stop the disaster which will cause World War III. “The world is on edge right now.” He said that he had spent the last two days talking with diplomats in New York and is certain that the world will warmly support a move by Biden to stop the war, but will unite against the current embrace of Netanyahu’s policy of mass slaughter.
