The US Navy flight-tested a Trident D5 missile on Sept. 27, fired from the Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine USS Louisiana. According to Stars & Stripes, the test was part of what is called a Demonstration and Shakedown Operation, a final evaluation of the Louisiana’s crew and readiness following a 41-month engineered refueling overhaul of the submarine at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Wash., which concluded in March. According to a press release issued by missile maker Lockheed Martin, this was the 191st consecutive successful test flight of the Trident D5 since 1989.
